IBM have recently announced the end of sale dates for selected Power 9 components and servers, this ranges from August 2023 to January 2024. Below is a full breakdown of the end of sale dates and associated systems. More information can be found here:

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/announcements/hardware-withdrawal-3q2023-power9-gtx4u-zz2uzz-ah-modelsfleetwood-miscellaneous-features

09/08/2023 – IBM Power AC922

20/10/2023 – IBM Power S914 (9009-41A & 9009-42A)

20/10/2023 – IBM Power H922 (9223-42H)

10/02/2024 – IBM Power E980

So what does this mean for me?

If you currently have a Power 9 system and are planning on upgrading any components you will need to purchase them prior to the associated end of sale date, otherwise you will need to purchase from an alternative source, for example a second user specialist. Like wise if you are currently planning on upgrading to a newer Power system and you require a Power 9, for example you need the ability to run V7R1 you will need to do it before the associated end of sale date.

If you are unable to now obtain a Power 9 system and a Power 10 is unable to fit your requirements, Meridian’s power cloud has multiple Power 9 systems with the ability to run V7R1 of IBM i, along with multiple Power 10 systems allowing for a streamlined growth and evolution to fit your Power infrastructure requirements.
